Thursday, July 6th... D-day! Today would be the day! Did I pass 'Informatiekunde'? Did I pass History of the British Isles? Did I pass all the rest???
The closer you get to the actual day, the more insecure you feel about how you did, but I suppose I am not the only one with that feeling. Amazingly calm on the train to Leuven, surprisingly cool when I arrived at our faculty, and finally extremely nervous when I entered the lecture hall. I just can't help myself, no stress whatsoever for an exam, it's the results that seem to worry me more. As *luck* would have it, 2nd year students only received their results after lunch, so after a stressing sandwich (which, I tell you, can't have been good for my stomach: eating and jitters just don't match!) And then, the endless list of names, 50% of which you have never even heard of, hither and thither a familiar name and then they get to the K, to the L and finally to the M... Anouk Morren is ... (the split second between your name and the actual result - the difference between going to Canada and staying in Leuven - seemed to last forever!) Anouk Morren is... GESLAAGD! And then, the relief, the exhaling you have been waiting for for the last 2 hours, the happy feeling of telling your friends and family that you passed.
So this means that I am really, 100% going to Toronto, without further ado! I received my housing forms and my admission package acceptance arrived at the U of T aswell. I got through the paperwork, the only thing left for me to do is... pack my bags in 2 months and leave Belgium.
To all of you, have a great summer, enjoy the exceptionally nice weather (hello Belgium!) and most of all keep in touch!
